My family and I were exploring one of the many waterfalls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula a few summers ago when I came upon this spider web that was covered with water droplets from the spray generated by the Great Conglomerate Falls.

This cool old doorknob is from the entrance to the rental cabin we stayed in during our trip to Green Mountain Falls, CO. The previous guests forgot to secure the bear lock on the garbage bin so we had an adventure one morning after the bears helped themselves the previous night. Back to the image. I loved the intricate details in the doorknob and how the light really set them off.

I was taking a professional development class through the business school at my local university and found this decorative centerpiece on one of the tables in the hallway outside the classroom. All the different textures in this arrangement really caught my eye.

I have no idea how this corn cob ended up next to the sidewalk in the office park where I work, but it was just there, all by itself sitting on the grass. There are so many textures to love in this image. I can't decide which are my favorite.

I went for a stroll through the outdoor mall near my home with my son while the rest of the family was waiting for our food to arrive at the nearby restaurant. One of the shops proudly boasted this intricately carved door.

Have you ever stopped to look at the texture of the sofa in your living room?  I hadn't either, until one morning when the sunlight coming in the front window created this scene for me.

The texture of this old fountain and the way the morning light was falling on it was really intriguing to me. When I look at this image, I can almost feel what that sculpture felt like when I touched it.

I love seeing the different ways people organize their bookshelves. This one was in a vacation rental cabin we stayed in one summer and doesn't seem to have any particular order. Just like the randomness of life.

The texture of these hard cover books drew me in as I photographed a bookshelf in the vacation rental cabin we stayed in one summer. This image brings back memories of a weekend getaway that provided a much needed break in the middle of summer.

This bare lightbulb was hanging above the dining table of a vacation cabin we rented one summer. I've always wanted to capture this type of glowing filament in an image and everything came together for me here.

I had just pulled my mug out of the coffee machine when I noticed the collection of bubbles that had formed during the process of filling it. The bubbles in one half of the mug stood in sharp contrast to the smooth black surface of the liquid in the other half.

There are so many interesting shapes and textures on the beach. This beach in Ontario, Canada on the North shore of Lake Erie was no exception.

These old glass Ball jars caught my eye at the local antique store. The light reflected in the glass and the deep threads in each lid was what called me to make this image.

My daughter and I walked up to the local coffee shop and as we were sitting there, I noticed this line of empty chairs right by the window just waiting for someone to come claim their window seat.

The gate in front of our local community garden has some amazing metal sculpture. This one reminds me of rays of sunshine.

The late afternoon sunlight can provide very interesting long shadows. I enjoy the interplay of the shadow with the textures of the metal work and the bricks in the background.

When I'm out wandering with my camera, I always make sure to look down so I don't miss anything interesting. In this case, a partially frozen puddle in a small depression near the curb.

Last fall, before the COVID-19 lockdown, my daughter and I went to a local outdoor shopping mall. This restaurant had already closed their outdoor dining space and had lined up a number of their chairs along the outside wall. They just waited.

This is another beauty-in-the-details sort of shot. I love the texture of the twine against the texture of the metal and the dusty wood window frame.

This mirror was on the dining room wall of a vacation rental we stayed at and I really liked the way the beaded metal work was framing the beveled glass.

The shiny silver holiday decoration on  the rough wood table at this coffee shop was a really interesting contrast. The early morning light coming in the window made the image though.

This leather chair was near the front door of a candy shop I visited in Door County, WI. After a long day of shopping, the chair was calling to me.

Every January we spend time at a family retreat center in Green Lake, WI. There's a wonderful stone fireplace in the lodge which is the eventual destination for these split logs.

My wife and I rented a vacation home for the weekend and found these really cool lamps in a couple of the rooms. They let just enough light through the sides of the shade and out the top that they appeared to glow.

My son is a very artistic young man. One day she was experimenting with bubble painting. He was at the dining room table and the way the window was reflecting off the bubbles was amazing to me. After he was done painting, he let me play with the bubbles.

Can you guess what the subject of this photo is? Well, you'll have to because I'm not telling.

My wife got out all of our puzzles during the COVID-19 lockdown and I really liked the way this photo came out. As soon as she finishes this one, she's got a bunch more lined up.

I wandered past the temporary puzzle table we set up in our living room to pass the time during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. The light shining in from the window and reflecting on just part of the un-finished puzzle was what caught my eye. The puzzle box in the background completed the look and I love that it mirrors the parts of the puzzle that are completed.

My daughter was unable to finish the 2nd half of her 'everything' bagel before she had to leave the house so she offered it to me. I didn't want to eat it, but I thought it might make an interesting subject for an image so I put it on a plate and set it in front of the big window in our kitchen. I think it turned out pretty cool.

I found this box of rocks on the table in a vacation rental and I just fell in love with the textures inside. I set the box on the floor just inside the sliding glass doors and the rest is history.

I've lumped this image in with my 'found objects' collection, but I actually created this scene. I don't usually work this way, but I'd seen this metallic ribbon lying around after opening my birthday gifts and thought it would make an interesting subject if I could isolate it from any background distractions. I'm really happy with the resulting image.
